This slightly off the Tiki track
… but on the 21st of August the Careless Navigator with help from our good friend Ilona Kincses will be running a retrospective showing of Ian McCausland’s work at the Dancing Dog in Footscray. (Victoria, Australia).
Ian, in my opinion is Australia’s greatest living Graphic Artist.
Here is the Info…
Ian McCausland, graphic artist, illustrator, art director, musician.
He has had a major influence on the design of Australian music posters and cover art over the past four decades. Not only has he created work for top Aussie acts which include The Aztecs, Daddy Cool, Spectrum, Company Cane, Chain, Skyhooks, Matt Taylor, Dragon (the list goes on and on) but more famously The Rolling Stones, The Who, Rod Stewart and the Faces. If fact the Careless Navigators favorite Rock poster of all time is Ian’s Stones 1973 Australian tour poster… pure genius.
He was also art director for the great Australia Music magazine Go-Set in the early 1970′s before moving onto Mushroom records in their formative years.
So we have decided to put a tribute to Ian together showcasing some of Ian’s greatest work at the Dancing Dog in Footscray.
It goes for a week and Ian will be there selling signed prints of some of his iconic posters on the weekends and he will be in and out through the week.
So come on down and say Hi to lan….everyone is welcome at the opening and of course the show is FREE.
The Dancing Dog has a friendly bar and beer garden.
If you have some connection to the media and you would like to help us out promotion wise feel free to contact us at info@carelessnavigator.com. Ian is up for all interviews.
