PROGRESS REPORT ON THE UNHOLY RABBLE TIKI MUG

I have been working on this project for months

…and for most of that time l have been dying to share it with the world, but l knew l needed to be a fair way down the road before l did. At least at the manufacturing stage.
It all started about two years ago when l came up with the idea for the “UNHOLY RABBLE TIKI PUNKSTERS” which is basically a collective of artists, bar people, collectors, you know… the true believers. The whole concept as far as l was concerned was a reaction to the watering down of Poly-Pop and the loss of connection to what l consider the golden era.

A bamboo Tiki door curtain, designed by Dave himself. They are hand painted and made in Vietnam…140 strings, 90cm wide and 200cm high (standard door frame)

KAHUNA KEVIN’S WHY IS ALL THE RUM GONE? VOL.2

One of our favorites here at the Careless Navigator is Kahuna Kevin. Maverick Tiki cocktail creator with, (like l always say) the passion of a mad scientist. Due to printing issues, the release of Kevin’s second book “Kahuna Kevin’s Why is all the Rum Gone? Vol. 2″ was delayed and you may have missed it in the Christmas/ New Year frenzy. I know the first print run of Vol. 1 sold out super quick, so now is the time to grab a copy of Vol.2.

LuWOW RUM GOD PENDANT

Thanks to the LuWOW guy’s for my fantastic new LuWOW Rum God Pendant. Using the Careless Navigator’s amazing attention to detail… l am having trouble remembering how you can get one of these beauties. l think it comes with one of their shared cocktails but l am not sure. You will have to head on down there to find out.

TIKI OASIS TV

You may remember a review

…l did about 18 months ago on the So Cal Tiki dvd from Brian Ill and his company Crystal Cove Media.

Well, they also produce Tiki Oasis TV which you can watch on their YouTube channel. It is a vox-pop slash fly-on-the-wall view of what goes on at Tiki Oasis…episodes go to air as the event is in action but it is a great time-capsule after the fact.

NEW BATCH OF PORCELANAS PAVON TIKI MUGS AT OUTRE

There is a newly arrived batch of Porcelanas Pavon Tiki mugs at Outre in Melbourne this week

…Sydney and Perth Outre’s will get em’ next week.

There is a difference with this lot…they have the Outre logo on their bottoms…

TIKI FARM QUARTERLY SUMMER 2011

Because of the massive amount of mugs that Tiki Farm produce each year

… l probably don’t report enough on the Farms out-put as l should. It’s mind boggling and just when l think l have a handle on the new releases l find something l missed. After all they are the biggest Tiki Mug producers on the planet and gettin’ bigger by the day. l know they are in the process of moving to bigger premises at the moment.

A QUICK LOOK AT THE NEW MUGS FROM WILD THING CREATIONS

Here’s a sneak peak at the new mugs from Wild Thing Creations. I have no idea what they are going to be called. It’s just a quick photo that Wayne’s iphone has sent me just before they go into the kiln for firing. It will be interesting to see what color they end up being.
