It's always tough when you get real tiki-philes in the bar - on one hand you're glad you get to speak to people who share that common interest, but on the other hand you just know that some of your decor/mug decisions are being judged by people who are potentially way further into some aspects of the subculture than you are :) I love how there are "levels" of authenticity and quality within a subculture that is, by its very nature, unauthentic and deliberately fake. I love how there are “levels” of authenticity and quality within a subculture that is, by its very nature, unauthentic and deliberately fake.

Unless they're wearing an aloha shirt and carrying around a tiki mug, you have no idea just by looking at them. With a bit of luck we can drag a few out of the woodwork and meet up with some like-minded individuals we wouldnt meet otherwise.
